Summer - Fall 2026

Drone Mapping Project

This is a proposed project. When funding is approved we will inform membership.

Working with Granite Ridge Educational Centre and Quinte Conservation, we will conduct aerial mapping of invasive species, specifically EWM.

Spring - Summer 2026

Invasive Species (Weeds) Surface Mapping Project

Working with Quinte Conservation, trained volunteers from MLPOA, will conduct lake surface mapping of invasive species from boats or along shorelines. Field data will be recorded and transmitted back to Quinte Conservation using Survey123, a handheld GPS system, for production of invasive species maps.

Spring - Fall 2026

Walleye Spawning Bed Rejuvenation

Following from recommendations in our walleye population report (see below), a preliminary assessment o f walleye spawning beds was completed in August 2025. As a result, in October 2025, Moira Lake was selected by Watersheds Canada to participate in a Spawning Bed Rejuvenation Project. Planning work will begin in spring 2026 with project delivery in early fall.

Spring - Early Summer 2026

'Love Your Lake' Shoreline Survey

In October 2025 Moira Lake was approved by Watersheds Canada to participate in the 'Love Your Lake'  shoreline survey program. 'Love Your Lake' is a Canada-wide, science-based shoreline survey and education program designed to help individual waterfront property owners understand, protect, and enhance the natural value of their shorelines.

February 2026

Madoc Sewage Lagoon Report

The MLPOA completed an analysis of the Madoc Sewage Lagoon performance identifying gaps and recommendations for improvement. This report was submitted to Centre Hastings Council in February 2026.  The full report and summaries are available here.

2025 Member Survey Results

In November and December 2025 the MLPOA undertook it's second annual member survey. This report presents a summary of survey results. the full survey analysis is available from the MLPOA upon request.

The Year in Review: 2025

The  MLPOA undertook a comprehensive program of environmental stewardship, member engagement, governance modernization, and financial strengthening in 2025. This report provides a goal-based assessment of performance against all objectives set out in the Strategic Plan (2025–2030), 2025 Annual Operating Plan, and Communications Strategy.

Water Quality Testing

The Water Testing Regime for Moira Lake outlines a comprehensive plan to monitor and manage the lake’s water quality, focusing on its eutrophic status, nutrient levels, and ecological health.

Governance & Strategic Planning

April 2025

Governance & Strategic Planning Project

In 2024–2025, the MLPOA Board led a project to modernize the Association’s governance and planning. Through strategic workshops, stakeholder input, and best practices research, the Board developed a new strategic plan, annual operating plans, draft bylaws, and a communications framework to guide MLPOA’s work over the next five years.

Walleye Population Study

After many anecdotal comments about the state of the walleye population in Moira Lake, the MLPOA completed extensive research into the current situation. The report presents a comprehensive analysis of the factors contributing to the decline of the lake’s walleye population and proposes actionable strategies for its recovery. The report was submitted to the MNR in February 2025.

Boat Launch Rejuvenation

In the fall of 2024, the MLPOA began work on rejuvenating the public boat launch.
