EWM Drone Mapping Pilot (Pending Funding)

Structured, short duration opportunity

 

What you’ll do as a Ground-truther

  • Help confirm what the drone imagery shows (“ground-truthing”)

  • Follow a pre-defined boat route with identified sample points

  • Conduct visual checks, take photos, and perform simple field surveys

  • Record findings using the Survey123 smartphone app

  • We are looking for at least 10 volunteers.

  • Training provided.

 

Time commitment

  • 2–6 hours per volunteer, depending on team size

  • Mid to late August 2026, weather dependent

 

Additional need

  • A pontoon boat and driver for drone flight day(s) to escort the drone operator around the lake.

  • ~6 hours per day. Approximately 2 - 3 days. Weather dependent.

 

Good fit if you:
✔ Are comfortable following clear field instructions

✔ Are comfortable in a boat and have some knowledge of the lake
✔ Want to support a very short, focused project
✔ Are available for a few days in the later half of August

  • Join us for a combined information / training session on both mapping projects
