EWM Drone Mapping Pilot (Pending Funding)
Structured, short duration opportunity
What you’ll do as a Ground-truther

Help confirm what the drone imagery shows (“ground-truthing”)

Follow a pre-defined boat route with identified sample points
-
Conduct visual checks, take photos, and perform simple field surveys

Record findings using the Survey123 smartphone app
-
We are looking for at least 10 volunteers.

Training provided.
Time commitment

2–6 hours per volunteer, depending on team size
-
Mid to late August 2026, weather dependent
Additional need
-
A pontoon boat and driver for drone flight day(s) to escort the drone operator around the lake.

~6 hours per day. Approximately 2 - 3 days. Weather dependent.
Good fit if you:
✔ Are comfortable following clear field instructions
✔ Are comfortable in a boat and have some knowledge of the lake
✔ Want to support a very short, focused project
✔ Are available for a few days in the later half of August
